Embark on a journey into the ancient art of tool making with our exhilarating half-day workshop focused on crafting your very own 1 lb railroad spike tomahawk. Inspired by the rich legacy of the village blacksmith, this hands-on experience is designed to introduce you to the fascinating world of forging.
Workshop Highlights:
- Participants: This workshop is tailored for four students, and the fee covers a single participant.
- Date and Location: Join us at my NW Portland workshop for this immersive experience. The exact address will be shared upon booking. The session starts at 8 am and typically concludes by noon. Before the workshop begins, participants will be required to sign a liability release waiver.
- What to Expect: Immerse yourself in the intricate techniques and processes needed to craft your distinctive 1 lb railroad spike tomahawk. By the end of the workshop, you'll proudly leave with a fully completed piece featuring a 18" handle. Collaboration is key as we utilize sledgehammers and an array of striking tools to shape the tomahawk's final form. To expedite the project, a 25T forge press and a 55lb power hammer may be used. For safety measures, critical forging operations, rough grinding, and final sharpening will be conducted under the expert guidance of the instructor.
