Are you ready to dive into the time-honored craft of tool making? Join us for a unique day of forging your very own hand-forged axe, inspired by the legacy of the village blacksmith.
Workshop Details:
Participants: This workshop is designed for three (3) participants, and the fee covers one person.
Date and Location: Our classes take place at my workshop in NW Portland. The exact address will be provided upon booking. We begin at 8 am, typically concluding around 5 pm, with a one-hour break for lunch. Please be prepared to sign a liability release waiver before participating in this workshop.
What to Expect: Throughout the workshop, we will delve into the necessary techniques and processes to bring your unique hand-forged axe to life. You'll leave with a fully completed 1.25lb camp axe featuring a 14" handle. We will work collaboratively, employing sledgehammers and various striking tools to shape the axe's final form. Additionally, a 25T forge press and a 55lb power hammer will expedite the project's completion. For safety reasons, some of the critical forging operations, rough grinding, and the final sharpening will be executed under the instructor's guidance.
Lunch: We will break for lunch, and the fee covers one student, including all material and fuel costs.
